For ShoreBank customers Lan and Pam Richart, it wasn’t enough just to be aware of the effects of global warming and climate change that they heard so much about in the news. Strongly compelled by their concern for the environment and their religious faith, Lan and Pam established Eco-Justice Collaborative, a faith-based nonprofit that works to raise public awareness of the social and environmental impacts of lifestyle choices and encourage behaviors that are socially just and environmentally sustainable. With ShoreBank’s help managing their accounts, Lan and Pam have built Eco-Justice Collaborative into one of the most important environmental action groups in the city of Chicago. Its conferences and town-hall meetings on environmental action and reversing the effects of global warming have featured experts from across the city and around the world.

"Eco-Justice Collaborative has some pretty unique needs as a faith-based nonprofit,” said Pam Richart. “ShoreBank has been willing to help us meet those needs. We receive service from people who understand and care about the same things that we do. At the same time, we know the funds we have entrusted to them are at work in important community and environmental projects in the region."

ShoreBank’s expertise in helping nonprofits to manage their money culminated in the launch of the Nonprofit Service Center, a special ShoreBank Branch that is designed specifically to meet the needs of nonprofit organizations.
